Bay 1 Vertical Door Control Room, Vehical Assembly Building, Kennedy Space Center, October 2015
The tallest part of the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) is the high bay area that is 525 feet (over 45 stories) high. It is enclosed by four vertical corridors, each with a door 456 feet high. The doors are the largest in the world and take about 45 minutes to completely open or close. The doors are designed to withstand 125 mile-per-hour winds and can be opened and closed in winds up to 63 miles per hour.
